Yellow has real history in publishing. The yellowbacks were cheap Victorian railway novels, the yellow press gave us sensational journalism, and Gallimard’s yellow covers are among the most recognisable in French literature. Yellow fiction sits in that lineage: popular, pulpy, unashamed. That’s a good position for a publisher or magazine, because genre fiction, crime and thrillers all thrive and none of them wants a name sounding like a literary prize committee.
